Kanimozhi – The leader Inspiring Youth

Great leaders are always considered as first-class communicators, they have a clear set of values, and they always believe in promoting and inculcating those values in others. Great leaders of history have always been motivators who ignited and united the minds of the common masses to work towards a common goal for the greater benefit of the society. It can be said that communication is not merely the exchange of information but it is an art which is used in contemporary world to pave the way for inspiration and success.

In this view, ICT Academy has been organizing “ICT Academy Youth Talk”, with the aim to inculcate the communication skills among the students, and thus impart leadership skills. ICT Academy Youth Talk has been a much sought-after platform among the students of higher education to compete and exhibit their public speaking skills. This initiative is crafted to identify young, powerful communicators and leaders who can communicate their thoughts to inspire the youth and peers.

ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu organised Youth Leadership Summit 2022 at Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology on 12 October 2022.

Ms Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, Lok Sabha MP from Thoothukudi Constituency and DMK Deputy General Secretary, took part in this mega event. She mentioned that ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu came into existence with the farsighted effort of the then Chief Minister Kalaignar Dr. M. Karunanidhi and continues its noble service majorly for the benefit of the tier-II/III teachers and students in the higher education sector.

Further, she said, “Tamil Nadu is a model state in India in implementing welfare schemes such as the noon-meal, free breakfast, etc. The Indian Union is following the schemes implemented by the Tamil Nadu Government and are seeking for the same to be implemented in their respective regions. Further, in a first in the country, the former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi implemented a policy exclusively for Information and Technology sector.”

Quoting John Maxwell, “The best leaders are the readers of people”, she added that the most important thing in communication is to listen to understand.

“Thanthai Periyar, Arignar Anna and Karunanidhi understood the mindset of the people of TN. Despite the various crises faced by the Nation, TN has been a progressive State which focuses on scientific development for the betterment of future generations. Further, she encouraged students to develop leadership and communication skills as “these are important in an ever-evolving technology world”.

Ms. Kanimozhi said Tamil is not just a language but an identity and a matter of self-respect that reflects our traditions, connects us with our culture and our leaders.

Finally, she appealed to students that they should develop communication skills and reinvent and “re-understand” what the world was communicating through adept listening. She also urged them to strive for creating an inclusive world where “it is everyone’s right to opine, debate and develop”.
