Human experiences are through emotions:
When someone asks, “How was your day?” or “How are you?” we instinctively respond through the lens of our emotions, don’t we? “It was amazing; I felt joyful and grateful,” or “I was so stressed,” or maybe even, “It was terrible; I felt frustrated and exhausted.”
Our entire life is essentially a collection of emotional experiences. But have you ever stopped to ask What exactly are emotions? What would life be like if we didn’t have emotions? Would we experience anything at all?
Sure, we might feel physical sensations, like the burn of something hot or the sharpness of physical pain. But beyond that? No, right? Without emotions, our experience of life would feel incomplete.
Emotions give depth to our human experience. They transform the five senses, sight, touch, smell, hearing, and taste, into something richer and more meaningful. But here’s something even more interesting, every emotional experience also has a physical reaction tied to it. That’s the only way we truly experience emotions.
Think about it, when you’re anxious, your heart races. Exam fear might churn your stomach or make you feel nauseous. Anger can bring a sudden wave of heat, making you sweat or even turn red. And love? Love can make your cheeks blush and steal your appetite.
So, what’s happening inside the body during these emotional waves? It’s all driven by chemical signals, hormones like serotonin, dopamine, or epinephrine, that create physical sensations we interpret as emotions.
But if emotions are experienced through the body, triggered by chemicals, then what causes those chemicals to be released in the first place? Is it the environment?
Not exactly. After all, two people can experience the exact same situation but respond in completely different ways. So, where does the real trigger lie?
Here’s the fascinating part, the trigger isn’t the event itself. It’s how the mind interprets the event. And this interpretation is shaped by subconscious programming, those deeply ingrained beliefs, patterns. AND THIS SUBCONSCIOUS PROGRAMMING IS THE MIDDLE GROUND WHERE ALL THE MAGIC, OR CHAOS—HAPPENS.
The Cycle of Emotions: Input, Middle, and Output
At the heart of our emotional experiences is a powerful cycle with three key components:
-
The Input: Triggers, both external (environmental events) and internal (expectations, desires, or beliefs).
-
The Middle: Subconscious programming, which interprets the input and generates thoughts.
-
The Output: These thoughts send signals to the body, triggering the release of specific chemicals (Emotions). Emotions, the chemical and vibrational signals that shape our experience of life.
This cycle defines how we experience the world. External triggers like a loud noise or a heated conversation enter our awareness. Internal triggers, such as unfulfilled expectations or deep-seated desires, also spark reactions. The subconscious interprets these inputs creating thoughts, these thoughts send signals to the body, triggering the release of specific chemicals. These chemicals, in turn, create the physical sensations and emotional experiences we recognize, be it joy, fear, anger, or love, influencing how we perceive life and interact with the world.
Let’s Sprinkle more magic, now that we know emotions creates vibrational frequency, just tune into the frequency of abundance – “Gratitude” and watch your life transform.
The Middle: The Subconscious and Awareness
Here’s where the magic truly happens: the middle ground.
This middle ground, the subconscious, is where the transformation begins. It’s the space between environmental triggers and emotional output. The good news is, while many subconscious programs are automatic, they aren’t permanent. We can make our subconscious our best friend.
Here’s the real magic: standing guard in the middle is awareness. Awareness acts as a filter, a buffer that allows you to observe your subconscious reactions before they manifest as emotional experiences. Strengthening awareness lets you:
Let’s look at some examples:
Imagine your subconscious belief is, “I’m not good enough.” Even when you receive a compliment at work, your mind might interpret it as sarcasm or insincerity. This triggers feelings of disappointment or mistrust rather than joy or pride.
Or perhaps you hold the belief, “Nobody truly loves me.” When someone expresses love or care, you might feel suspicious, thinking they have ulterior motives. Instead of feeling loved, you might experience anxiety or fear of betrayal.
On the flip side, let’s say someone unintentionally ignores your text. With an awareness of your beliefs and emotions, you can pause and ask, “Am I interpreting this based on my past fears, or is there another perspective?” This pause gives you the power to release balanced emotions rather than spiraling into frustration or sadness.
By cultivating awareness, you gain the ability to consciously filter what you take inside. Instead of letting your subconscious dictate your experiences, you begin shaping them. This is the magic of the middle ground—it’s where we rewrite outdated beliefs, regulate emotional responses, and create a healthier, more empowering experience of life.
Strengthening the Middle Ground: Tools for Transformation
1. Awareness Practices
Awareness acts as a gatekeeper, standing between subconscious triggers and emotional output. You can strengthen it with practices like:
2. Reprogramming the Subconscious
Awareness allows you to notice subconscious patterns, but reprogramming ensures long-term change. Techniques include:
3. Emotional Regulation Tools
Sometimes emotions feel overwhelming. Learning to regulate them helps maintain balance:
4. Healthy Environments
Your surroundings profoundly influence your subconscious. Curate environments that support positive programming:
5. Spiritual Connection
Many spiritual practices are designed to strengthen awareness and subconscious alignment:
The Magic of the Middle
Ultimately, the middle ground is where transformation happens. It’s where input meets awareness and subconscious programming, shaping the output that defines your life experiences. By strengthening awareness, reprogramming your subconscious, and cultivating emotional regulation tools, you can transform this middle ground into a space of empowerment and balance.
The magic happens in the middle because it’s where you have the power to rewrite the script. Your input may not always be in your control, and your output may feel automatic, but the middle—the space where awareness and subconscious programming reside—is entirely yours to shape.
Magic doesn’t just happen—it’s created. And it starts in the middle, with you.
