There are no two identical finger prints, retina or human behaviour that we could find in this entire human race, all are unique and different. We are all one of a kind, yes you read it right, you are special.
No matter how deep the search could go or how vast the research might be, we will never find anyone similar to you or me because we were never meant to be the same. That gives us the answer for a lot of questions and doubts. When we understand this very basic nature of mankind, most of our social issues will be sorted out.
The most important issue of all, “comparison” among fellow people will stop when we understand we are made in a unique way. Right from our physical appearance, to our thoughts, our mindset, the way we process things, the way we face each situation, none of us handle it the same way, rather we won't handle it the same way because we are unique with our own ways.
So why does comparison play a major role in our lives? Because it starts from the day we were born. That’s right! From that very moment, we are being compared unapologetically. It starts with gender, goes on to colour, skin tone, nature of hair, height, weight and what not! From that day on the fearful journey of comparison begins and goes on till we decide to do something about it. That’s right, till we do something here, this keeps on going without an end.
So what do we need to do? We need to take a stand when we see comparisons unfolding before our eyes. We cannot be present everywhere but when it happens to us or people around us, we should be the one stopping it. It will definitely be difficult, we will have lots of questions popping up but when we do the right thing, we might not know, we could have saved someone from a disaster.
How do we stop comparisons from happening? Change should start from us! When we understand that we are unique and perfect in our own way, we can put an end to this. We are created in a certain way that is best suited for us. Remember, “No one can play our role better than us and no one can fill our place in this world”. This knowledge makes all the difference! Trust me, this understanding alone gives us lots of peace and the much needed break from the so called societal norms!
Bring the change by not being that person who compares. It hurts when we are being compared to something or someone. So stop doing that to anyone you cross paths with. Understand that everyone is unique and created in a specific way. You know , it would be really unfair to compare two completely different people or places.
Would you compare a horse with a hippo? No and we can’t! Both are kings of their own races and unique and strong in their own ways. Their ways of approaching things are different and they follow their own path. I am sure, neither of them would want to be the other, they are very much comfortable in their own skin until someone from the outside comes and tells the hippo that he is not silky or slim like the horse! There ends their confidence and starts the endless drama of self doubts! Then comes the time where they don't feel like themselves and feel alienated in their own world. Can you understand what a little casual comparison can do.
So no matter what, don't become that person who casually says a word and walks out as if nothing happened not really understanding the damage they have started! Be that person who accepts people for who they are and what they bring to the table. Never try to change anyone, they are already comfortable in their own skin!
So how do we accept ourselves? Be very very clear about this one thing. You are beautiful, creative, confident, talented, valued and absolutely fine just the way we are now! We are special in our own way. There is not another single person on this very big whole wide world similar to us, even to the level of an iota! We should feel proud of ourselves that we are one of a kind and there are no copies anywhere.
Its ok to show slow progress when compared to others, only when there is no progress we need to worry! It's totally fine to be happy with small successes compared to big wins for others. We all are in this world with a special purpose and unique calling. Others could compare but more than that, don’t do self comparison at any cost. It takes the enjoyment out of our lies and makes us doubt our worth!
Like the quote from Roosevelt, “Comparison is a thief of joy” , do you ever compare or let anyone do it to you. You are unique, you shine the light in this world in your own way and know this by heart that you can never be compared to anyone in this world because there is only one you and God did not intend to make any copies of you.
Be cheerful, spread your light and love like you were meant to do because only you can do what you do, be you always, no matter what anyone says, remember , you are you!
