The Future of Ecommerce

E-commerce is about to bloom high number of changes because of technological and social factors. In this article, let us see about the future of e-commerce and few trends that would exist in future.

1. Augmented Reality

Augmented Reality will gain mainstream acceptance and will be used by many. It simulates in-person shopping by enabling customers to view how a product might look at them or at their home. With AR, customers click on a product and instantly see it overlaid wherever they point their mobile device. Moreover, customers can also view the product from every conceivable angle in an interactive 360 degree.

Smartphones, smart glasses, and other handheld, and wearable devices will provide the bulk of these experiences.

Shopify AR is the best example, where it allows the customers to view products in natural environment before buying them. This helps the customers to make quick decisions when it comes to choosing a brand.

2. Jarvis – Like AI Assistant

Most people in developed countries would use AI to improve the quality of their lives. AI-oriented software could read our emails, monitor our blood chemistry, and more. AI enabled software would learn your preferences, anticipate your needs and behaviours, shop for you, monitor your health, and help you in problem-solving methods. Further, by mid 2030s, we will begin using brain-computer interfaces to connect to the human neocortex. This would enable us to interact with AI assistants with our thoughts and bring this technology entirely to the new level.

3. Cryptocurrency

Crypto may become a common payment option. This would become a payment option for especially Gen Z and millennials. The price fluctuations for crypto currencies may begin to stabilize over the next decade, which would make more attractive payment options for big companies like Amazon and large payment companies like PayPal.

Furthermore, most of the cryptocurrencies use Blockchain technology to record the transactions. Mainly, blockchain is a shared database that allow multiple parties to access data and verify it in real time.

4. Autonomous Delivery Drones

Delivery drones are capable of handling shipping in different volumes, without human intervention. The advantages of automated shipping in e-commerce are speed in delivery time, reduction of freight costs, accident reduction; decrease in human error, and reduction in CO2 emission.

5. Virtual Reality

Virtual reality plays an essential part in the domain of “Marketing”. It would allow people to view products from any imaginable angle. Further, we could see those products in action within virtual environments. VR is expected to transform multiple industries such as education, social media, video games, and entertainment.

6. Voice Commerce

Voice commerce is gaining popularity. Despite the global market growing rapidly, most of the voice activity occurs on mobile devices through virtual assistants.

Conclusion

Without a doubt, a paradigm shift is coming in the way E-commerce will operate in 10-15 years from now. Success will principally depend on whether businesses are willing to openly embrace these trends and ideas.
